Sheltered Housing

The purpose of Sheltered Housing is to provide suitable housing, promoting a safe, secure environment providing Care and Support to all people at or over retirement age who need that extra little help to live independently.

We have two main criteria, the first being that you need to be of retirement age; the second that you have to have some connection with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC). On completion and return of the application form, one of our staff will visit you at home to talk over your needs. Following the home visit you will be invited to visit the house after which you will be informed of your priority rating. Inkerman House adheres to a Fair Housing policy.

We accept self-referrals or from RBKC housing department or NHHT transfers department.

The residents are supported by the Scheme Manager and Supported Housing Manager (Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm) who are responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the House.

In addition there is a 24 hr central alarm system in each room in each flat, and the common parts. The Community Alarm Service answers all out of hours emergency calls.

Residents are offered:

  • Individual support plans and care packages
  • Advocacy and Advice
  • Obtaining and accessing other appropriate services giving freedom of informed choice
  • Encouragement to join in with in- house and Community Social Activities preventing isolation.
  • Liasing with home helps, meals on wheels, doctors visits etc
  • Day to Day Maintenance of the scheme

In addition to the above there is a 24hr central alarm system in each stem in each flat. The Community Alarm Service answers all emergency calls out of hours.
